First Communion
Vatican Council II proclaimed that the Eucharist (the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ) is the source and summit of Christian life. We try to convey this central place of the Eucharist in the life of each Christian as we help students prepare to receive their Lord and God for the first time in the sacrament of Holy Communion. Preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion is a two year process. In year one of the program (starting in the first grade or above), the child attends weekly Religious Education classes. In year two of the program (starting in second grade or above), the child attends weekly Religious Education classes as well as two Saturday morning retreat sessions. Parents are required to attend the Saturday retreat sessions with their child. the two retreat session focus on the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.
