Funeral
The book of Genesis tells us that God has created us in His own image and likeness. Death is not an end but a “gateway” to a new life in the presence of the Triune God. Our human bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, destined for future glory at the resurrection of the dead. Like Christ, we too shall rise and join our heavenly Father, uniting heaven and earth in one great communion of saints.
A funeral is an essential part of the healing process, helping us to understand and cope with your grief. The Catholic liturgy always provides courage and comfort for mourning the death of your loved one. The more the family, relatives and friends actively plan and participate in the ceremony, the deeper the healing experience of consolation and strength We understand you might feel confused, sad, stunned and even overwhelmed by your loss. We are here to help you walk thourgh your most difficult time of sorrow. Whether spiritual, physical, emotional or mental, we hope to provide guidance. The office calls a grief counselor to sit with the family to prepare the liturgy and find out the family’s extended needs throughout this most tragic time.
Our funerals are preferably incorporated with our prayerful parish family at the 9 a.m. Mass. Otherwise, an exception for an 11 a.m. service is provided. Our Wake room provides ample capacity for your vigil service. Visitations can be arranged for the evening prior the funeral or an hour before the funeral Mass. The Wake room is offered to the families with the deceased’s body, with Cremains or with neither. The Vigil (Wake) is to remember the life of the deceased and praying to the God of mercy. The wake offers consolation to the surviving family and friends.
If you have an ill family member and would like to prepare the funeral liturgy ahead of time, please call the office at 813-968-1077.
